Riverscape

If you hate being outside, you should probably avoid Riverscape. If you enjoy fresh air, you might have fun here.

At Riverscape, you can find lovely little bubbly fountains, surrounded by foliage, wide pathways, and benches perfect for enjoying a good book on. Not pictured, are larger fountains that children love running through, surrounded by picnic tables.

Riverscape has a concession stand, water fountains, public restrooms, a nice view of the city, and speakers playing music. There are occasionally concerts and other events held here, making it a place to easily get out and meet others.

If you enjoy running and walking, this is the perfect place to do so. A bike trail runs right through Riverscape, making this a safe, accessible place for exercising.

In the winter, the pavilion at Riverscape is turned into an ice skating rink, making the outdoor fun last all year round.

Fresh 2 Def Cutz

I can't really give an honest review of this barber shop, because I haven't actually gotten my hair cut here. But I *have* driven past it several times, and I felt compelled to take a picture.

Fresh 2 Def Cutz is located on W. 3rd Street, and if you like graffiti and shady haircuts, you might like to give this place a try. If you have actually had your hair cut here, I would love to hear about your experience.

Masonic Temple

I was homeschooled and my mom would randomly drive us places and ask businesses to give us a spur of the moment field trip. I guess that I inherited that spontaneous field trip gene, because I love doing that exact same thing. One day, my friend Abdul and I decided to see if we would be allowed inside the Masonic Temple. We were greeted with a very friendly staff that were more than happy to give us our own personal tour of the temple right then and there.

We were given pamphlets, a load of historical information, were allowed to take pictures, and our 'tour guide' was super kind and eager to load us down with all the information we could possibly absorb.

The architecture inside and outside the building is beautiful, and is honestly worth visiting just to see that.

I have somehow lost most of the pictures I took inside the building, so here is an odd, yellow-y picture for you to enjoy.

If you are into Geocaching, plan that into your trip at the Temple- there is a cache hidden outside!

Flying Pizza

It's hard to go wrong with pizza. I don't know about you, but when I'm hungry, I usually crave pizza. In a moment of hunger/pizza craving craziness, I walked to Flying Pizza- because the only thing better than satisfying this hunger with pizza would be satisfying this hunger with pizza that I could walk to get.

Located right downtown (and in various other locations in neighboring cities), this pizza place is easily accessible, offers a selection of pizza toppings, seasonings, fountain drinks and beer.

Yes, the pizza satisfied the craving I had. No, it wasn't delicious, like 'New York Pizza' is supposed to be. The lack of sauce and flavor in general was quite disappointing, not to mention the awkward atmosphere, where the owner kept complaining to me about his customers.

HOWEVER...I have been back multiple times...because I can walk there, and eating pizza makes me happy, you know?
Hello and welcome. The purpose of this blog is to show that while yes, Dayton is a fairly boring place to live, there are actually some interesting places to visit. Check this site from time to time to find reviews of restaurants, museums, parks, and anything else that might make Dayton look kind of exciting.
